jason! Thanks for the kind words and feedback. yes, for music... I think thats a space open for new interfaces and approaches for sure. That gulf between composing and listening, it can feel enormous and overwhelming... I'm amazed by the balance you have struck with Five Lights though. I was thinking of one of your tracks today, and was thinking to blog it because I like it so much. You know, 'Online(sketch)'.

Have you seen the Bret Victor talk? I think you would like it a lot. http://vimeo.com/36579366

> I’m really hoping to foster the type of play that you mention here – on a subconscious level, creating short goals for myself, taking parameters to the extreme just to feel out the space, experimenting on ideas without fear of failure, etc.

I would love to hear how you include these changes in your process, and what sorts of impacts it has. It's certainly not easy, but I'm sure you can do it, and it will be quite powerful / meaningful.

Oooo so like linking up conversations between a city and surrounding forests. hmmm i wonder what may happen with that anonymity, what people may say in the forest or park vs in the city, how environment may be an influence. calling birds would be fun / silly, haha

Why not reciprocal feeds in the city and the forest? Then people could have a conversation! Or call birds from a bus stop!

This is a great post, and hits upon a lot of things I've been thinking of recently!

I'm working to create a setup where I can have a more immediate feedback loop present when composing music to avoid everything sounding overworked or heavy-handed. I'm really hoping to foster the type of play that you mention here - on a subconscious level, creating short goals for myself, taking parameters to the extreme just to feel out the space, experimenting on ideas without fear of failure, etc.

I'm hoping to see more ways that technology can be used to bring us back in the now in our everyday lives as well - it's vitally important!
